Album of the Month - November 2023

Former Sex Pistols frontman, John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, teams up with Steve Vai, Ginger Baker, Bernard Fowler and Tony Williams, to create PIL's "Album."

Recorded in late 1985 and released on January 27, 1986. During one of the recording sessions, Ornette Coleman stopped by and told Lydon that he sang like he plays the trumpet.

Steve Vai states that "album" is one project he worked on that he is most proud of. After recording his guitar parts, Lydon came in and heard them. He told Vai, "This is fucking great, man. How did you know I wanted it like that?"

A very cool and underrated record, "album", is worth checking out for the outstanding songs and stellar musicianship.
