Anthem Crimson & Jet Black Review

Anthem Crimson & Jet Black Album Cover
Forged in a sonic onslaught of finely tempered metal that incinerates your soul and pulverizes your bones.

Released on April 21, 2023, Crimson and Jet Black is Anthem's 19th studio recording. One thing is always certain: you can never go wrong with an Anthem album. Excellent musicianship, great songs and prolific metal power and kickassery. Crimson and Jet Black is no different. They continue to hammer out master crafted metal amalgamating traditional heavy metal with powermetal.

The band is in fine form. Akio Shimizu's guitar playing continues to defy the laws of physics. Check out Wheels of Fire, Burning Down the Wall, and the incredible instrumental Void Arc.

Yukio Morikawa vocals are amazing as always. Powerful and seasoned well. He is like Rob Halford, whose vocals get better with age. This is unmistakable on the explosive opener Snake Eyes, Master of Disaster, and the belter Howling Days.

Naoto Shibata and Isamu Tamaru are the cohesive strength that binds the band together with monster metal grooves. They are one of the best metal rhythm sections in the world. Take a listen to Blood Brothers, Faster, Mystic Echos, and Danger Flight.

Overall, Anthem is one of those bands that should be uttered under the same breath as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc.  They belong in the heavy metal pantheon, with all the metal gods.

So get blown away and listen to Crimson and Jet Black now! It is one album I have been listening to often since it came out. Go back and check out their other albums as well. You cannot go wrong with an Anthem album!
