Stratovarius Survive Review

Stratovarius Survive Album Cover
The Finnish, all-powerful, power metal group, Stratovarius, is back with a vengeance after seven years. Survive is the culmination of their mighty passions. Released on September 23, 2022, Survive is the group's 16th studio release and the 5th of the post Timo Tolkki era.

Overall, the album is nonstop high energy. If you need music to work out to, this is it. Whenever I listen to it, I just want to jump on my exercise bike, go for a run, lift weights, or leap a tall building in a single bound. Feeling lethargic? Just put this on play and crank it. No need for coffee, Red Bull, or other energy drinks. This music will see you through.

The songs are immense, infectious, and intense. The album kicks off with the title track, "Survive." It is a heart pumping, fist raising adrenaline rush of a first opener with a killer chorus.

"Demand" keeps the high energy flowing. "Broken" continues the killer riffs and pace. Make sure you stay well hydrated!

"Firefly" keeps the fuel injection flowing with volcanic riffs and a thunderous chorus, igniting a trail of flames.

"We are not Alone" continues the pace while "Frozen in Time" brings the intensity down a bit. The song continues with the epic and powerful writing. Now is a time to rehydrate and towel dry the sweat off your body.

"World on Fire" picks up the intensity.

"Glory Days" continues the run while "Breakaway" slows things down a bit with some nice acoustic guitars and a powerful chorus.

"Before the Fall" picks things up again while "Voice of Thunder" starts winding things down as you end this musical odyssey.

Overall, Survive is a welcome return of the power metal masters. They are definitely at their best with monumental songs and flawless musicianship. You will find yourself singing along as the music is daring and unashamed. It has an infectious spirit and a bold sense of adventure.
